Coastal Wedding Theme Without the Cliche

Coastal Wedding Theme Without the Cliche

Beyond Seashells and Anchors

Most coastal weddings fall into a trap of literal beach objects. A sophisticated coastal theme draws from colors, textures, and feelings of the coast — not its cliches.

Refined Color Palette

Sea glass green, sand beige, driftwood gray, soft coral, and ocean foam white. These feel organic rather than costume-like.

Texture Over Trinkets

Linen tablecloths, woven rattan chargers, raw-edge cotton napkins, weathered wood signage. Let texture evoke the coast without literal objects.

Coastal Florals

Pampas grass, sea lavender, dusty miller, succulents, and protea. Avoid tropical flowers unless your venue is actually tropical.

The Rule of Three

Choose at most three literal coastal elements. Everything else should evoke the coast through color and texture. Less literal, more atmospheric.
