Wedding Day Timeline: Hour-by-Hour Planner
Why a Detailed Timeline Matters
Your wedding day moves fast. Without a written timeline, vendors arrive at the wrong times, photos run long, and dinner service gets delayed. A solid hour-by-hour plan keeps everyone on the same page.
Sample Wedding Day Timeline
8:00 AM — Hair and Makeup
Allow 30 minutes per person for hair and 20 minutes for makeup. Start early enough to build in a 30-minute buffer.
11:00 AM — First Look Photos
Schedule 2–3 hours before the ceremony. This lets you capture couple portraits and bridal party photos without rushing.
2:00 PM — Getting Dressed
Allow 45 minutes for the bride to get into her dress. Detail photos (dress, shoes, rings) are captured at this time.
3:30 PM — Guests Arrive
Open the ceremony space 30 minutes early. Background music sets the tone.
4:00 PM — Ceremony
Most ceremonies run 20–30 minutes. Build in a 5-minute buffer for late guests.
4:30 PM — Cocktail Hour
While guests enjoy drinks and appetizers, the couple finishes family portraits.
5:30 PM — Reception Entrance
The grand entrance kicks off the reception. First dance typically follows immediately.
6:00 PM — Dinner
Plated dinners take 60–90 minutes. Toasts happen between courses — limit to 3 speakers at 3 minutes each.
7:30 PM — Dancing
Open the dance floor after first dance, parent dances, and cake cutting.
10:00 PM — Last Dance
End with an upbeat song everyone knows. Coordinate the send-off with your venue's closing time.
Pro Tips
